What must I do in case I need assistance?
Should you need any kind of assistance, either medical, odontological, legal, etc.
you must call collect the nearest
Alarm Center
according to the telephones list you
will be provided with. Or you can check the telephone number at this site (LINK)If
you experience any difficulty contacting it, please call the corresponding
Regional Alarm Center
or any other ASSIST-CARD office in the world.
Is there any limitation for chronic or pre-existent conditions?
Yes. Some of our products, such as the Young, Corporate daily and Corporate Premium
daily cards, do not provide services in case of any pre-existent condition. Some
others, such as the Classic, Premium, Corporate yearly, Corporate Premium yearly
and Multitrip cards, have a limit of U$S 300 for pre-existent illnesses. Our EuroClassic
card will entitle you to receive assistance up to Euro 300 in case you suffer from
a pre-existing disease. And finally, our Privileged card is the only one in the
market that will provide you with services up to U$S 2,500 for daily cards and U$S
5,000 for annual cards in case of a pre-existent illness.
How do your yearly cards work? Are they valid for a whole year?
Except for the Young card, all the ASSIST-CARD yearly cards were especially designed
for frequent travelers and are valid for all the trips the cardholder makes during
its 365 days' validity, with the only restriction that no trip can last longer than
120 consecutive days in the case of the Privileged yearly card, and 90 consecutive
days in the case of our Premium, Corporate, Corporate Premium, EuroClassic and Multitrip
yearly cards. Once you have been 120 or 90 consecutive days (according to the card
purchased) abroad, the card loses its validity until you return to the country of
issuance. When you start a new trip (always within the 365 days' validity), the
card is re-validated and usable again to request any of our services. On the other
hand, the Young card (which can be purchased per week) will provide services for
trips starting from 8-weeks' duration and up to the whole year.
Do you always send a physician to the hotel room?
We generally do. But sometimes we cannot, either because it is not a local custom
(for instance in the US, where doctors prefer to see patients in their own offices),
or because the reason of the call makes it necessary that the patient is seen at
a hospital (in case for instance of traumatological problem, where our assistance
operator is sure that X-Rays will be needed) or directly at the office of a specialist.
I see your cards cannot be issued for US residents temporarily. Does this mean you
are not providing services in the US?
Our office in the US, located in Miami, works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, since
more than 20 years ago. Our staff there provides assistance to travelers from all
over the world who are visiting the country. Therefore, if you are not an US resident,
you can issue your card online to be used in the US. To access our services, you must simply call our Toll Free
line for the US (1 800 874 2223). According to your specific needs or the location
you are at, you will be instructed on how to proceed or where to go.
Why are you different from travel insurance?
ASSIST-CARD is not a travel insurance company but a travelers assistance organization.
The travelers' assistance concept is absolutely different from travel insurance:
If you carry a travelers insurance policy from even the largest insurance company,
you should personally get the services of a physician or a specialist, in many cases
in spite of the language barrier. Or you must decide what hospital to go to. Or,
in the best possible scenario, they would provide you with mere referrals. And it
is you the one who must pay for the services and seek for reimbursement of the money
you spent when you are back home.
If you are the holder of an ASSIST-CARD you simply call, 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week, our local or nearest Alarm Center and request the services you need. We
will then send a physician to your hotel room or make an appointment with a first-level
specialist or send you to the most adequate hospital. Or provide any other of the
many different services we render to travelers, such as for example track your lost
luggage or pay for a ticket for a relative in case you are traveling alone and must
remain hospitalized. And of course ASSIST-CARD pays for the services on the site
so you do not have to disburse your own money!

What must I do if the duration of my trip is between two blocks of days?
The ASSIST-CARD assistance services are sold per blocks of days that correspond
to the average duration of trips abroad, according to our experts’ research.
If you are traveling for a shorter period, please purchase the block immediately
above the period of your trip. For instance, if you are traveling abroad for 20
days, you must purchase the 22-days block, either for the Privileged, the Premium
or the Classic card.
What is Maximum Global Amount (M.G.A.)?
All of our services are provided for free up to a maximum amount that depends on
the product you purchased and on whether the need of the assistance service arises
from an accident of an illness. And in this case, whether the illness is or not
preexistent.
